Use Custom Production Order Fields in Graphical Scheduler

Graphical Scheduler can use custom fields for cell text, tooltips, and color rules. The field must exist on the table being displayed. When displaying Prod. Order Routing Line, expose information from the Production Order header through a lookup FlowField.

This example adds a Schedule Category to the production order and uses URGENT to highlight its operations. A Business Central developer must publish the extension. Replace the example object and field IDs with available IDs from your extension's range.

1. Add the Production Order Field

Add a stored field to the Production Order table. If the required field already exists, skip this step and reference it in step 2.

tableextension 50100 "Example Prod Order" extends "Production Order"

2. Expose the Field on Routing Lines

Add a lookup FlowField to Prod. Order Routing Line. Match both Status and Prod. Order No. to identify the correct header.

tableextension 50101 "Example Prod Routing" extends "Prod. Order Routing Line"

The FlowField reads the header value rather than storing a separate copy on each operation.

3. Allow Users to Enter the Category

Add the stored field to the relevant production order page. For released orders:

pageextension 50100 "Example Released Prod Order"
    extends "Released Production Order"

Publish the extension, then enter URGENT in Schedule Category on a released production order that has routing operations.

4. Show the Category in Cells and Tooltips

  1. Open Graphical Scheduler → View → Edit.
  2. Under Configure What Displays In This View, locate the data source displaying Prod. Order Routing Line.
  3. Open its Cell Template or Tooltip Template editor.
  4. Choose Add Field and select Schedule Category.

For example, include the following text in either template:

Category: [Example Schedule Category]

The cell template displays text inside the operation block. The tooltip template displays text when you hover over it.

5. Color Operations by Category

  1. In the same view, expand Configure Styles In This View and add a style.
  2. Set Table No. to 5409 — Prod. Order Routing Line.
  3. Open Filter and set Schedule Category to URGENT.
  4. Choose a background color and a readable text color.
  5. Give the rule a lower Sort Order than broader rules that could also match.
  6. Close the configuration and refresh Graphical Scheduler.

The first matching style in sort order is used. All displayed operations belonging to an URGENT order can therefore receive the selected style. After changing the header category, refresh the scheduler to display the updated text and colors.
