I am struggling to wrap my head around how to setup the following in relation to a given item category code within the configurator item categories.
– Base Routing Number
– Choices Routing NumberCould someone help me understand why the routing options within the Base Routing No. are not valid within the configurator options. I am only able to reference operations from the Choices Routing number. Based on the instruction manual, this column is meant to call out those optional values and not the base available options.
Additionally, When I try to build out a specific choice set for a line item within the configurator options I am able to render operations valid by way of selecting the choices routing number – but since they are not present within the Choices Routing they are not applicable to be updated to the list of valid options.

This behaviour is by design. Operations in the “Base Routing No.” are always included, so they are not available as choices, while operations in the “Choices Routing No.”are the ones you can select as choices.
The “Base Routing No.” is the base routing that will be used for all items created by the configuration. It holds your standard operations, which are included regardless of the options and choices selected. For example, you may have a quality control or shipping operation at the end of every routing, or an engineering review at the start.
The “Choices Routing No.” is the routing that holds the optional operations to choose from for items created by the configuration. To set up an option choice of type ‘Operation’, the operation must exist in this routing. For example, if your items may need assembly, fabrication, both, or neither, set up options with choices for the assembly and fabrication operations. These operations must exist in the “Choices Routing No.” so they can be selected as choices and transferred to the routing of the created item.
When an item is created, the “Base Routing No.” is applied first, followed by the operations from the “Choices Routing No.” that were selected in the configuration.
If you use choice sets with choices of type ‘Operation’, the “Choices Routing No.” on the choice set must match the one on the Configurator Item Category. If an operation you need isn’t available, add it to that routing.
Thank you,
