Run Warehouse Insight on Your Windows Desktop

Run Warehouse Insight on Your Windows Desktop

You are here:

You may want to run Warehouse Insight on your Windows desktop for testing/training purposes without the need for a mobile device. You have two options depending on the operating system of the mobile device you intend to use.

  • Use an Android emulator to simulate using an Android mobile device.
  • Use the Warehouse Insight Desktop Client to simulate using a Windows mobile device.

This article describes the setup process for both options.

Android Emulator

An Android emulator simulates an Android device on your computer. Insight Works does not have a purpose-built Android emulator, but there are many free and paid options available online. Two popular and free emulators are MEmu and Bluestacks. These emulators are easy to install and use, but they will occasionally display ads to the user. Free emulators are also available from Microsoft and Google, though these require more technical knowledge to set up and use.

The following sections describe how to install and configure Warehouse Insight using an Android emulator.

Prerequisites

You must complete the following prerequisites before installing and configuring Warehouse Insight in the emulator.

  1. Install the Warehouse Insight app in Business Central.
  2. Run the Warehouse Insight Setup Wizard in Business Central.
  3. Create at least one device configuration.
  4. Install your emulator of choice using the instructions from the vendor’s website.
