Improvements

Improvement Description
SharePoint links Record links created upon uploading a file to SharePoint are now joined to a Document Attachment record that contains a reference to the link. You can use these Attachments to open the link in a new browser window. Deleting the document attachment record also deletes the associated record link. However, due to limitations with Business Central system tables, deleting the record link does not delete the associated document attachment along with it.

This change in behavior can be configured with the “Link Attachment Mode”. If you prefer the previous behavior with SharePoint integration where it would only create record links, and not attachments, then set “Link Attachment Mode” to “Record Link Only”.

Resolved auto-delete old attachment issue Resolved issue with deleting an old attachment not always functioning when uploading to SharePoint and replacing the document attachment with a link-based document attachment. Included in release 2.5.9581.1
Link Attachment Mode Added the “Link Attachment Mode” setting that allows choosing to create a record link and document attachment link when dragging items and uploading to SharePoint, or only to create a record link. Included in release 2.5.9696.1 If you prefer the previous behavior of DocXtender to only create SharePoint links with record links only, and without the attachment record then use “Record Link Only”.
If you have previously restricted adding document attachments to records by denying write permission to the Business Central Document Attachment table 1173 and are using the setting that allows document attachments then you might be faced with a permission error “Sorry, the current permissions prevented the action. (TbaleData 1173 Document Attachment Insert: DocXtender), you can also resolve this by setting “Link Attachment Mode” to “Record Link Only”.
Attachment links Resolved an issue where SharePoint record links were unexpectedly deleted on converting a purchase quote to an order when using attachment record links. Included in release 2.5.9696.1
Attachment flows with posting Updated how SharePoint attachment links are carried forward during posting so inherited attachments continue to open correctly from downstream documents instead of showing an Invalid Link ID error. Included in release 2.5.9721.1

Improvements

Improvement Description
UI Improvement Links that are attached to a record after uploading to SharePoint will now be visible after uploading without the need to refresh the page.
Doc. Attachment List Factbox Added an action to upload existing attachments to SharePoint directly from the factbox.
Improved Table Compatibility Procedures OpenForRecRef and GetRecRefFromDocAttachment now have improved logic that will handle the majority of tables out of the box.

This will reduce the need for the event subscribers that were previously required to extend DocXtender onto tables that were not already handled.

Note: If the event subscribers were previously used then an error message, ‘The record is already open’, may appear, which indicates that the table is now handled and the event subscriber can be removed.
Document Attachments Now supports replacing document attachments when a duplicate file is detected.

Update Description
Login improvements Login token caching is now supported, saving time with interactive drag/drop SharePoint uploads.
Multiple File Uploads Resolved an issue where when dragging multiple files at once, some of them would not be uploaded.
Record links for SharePoint uploads Resolved an issue where links would not be added if the same attachment is uploaded to a record with the same ID in a different company.

Improvements

Improvement Description
Non-Interactive mode naming improved Non-Interactive mode now uses the same naming scheme for SharePoint folders. Previously, it was using the table name rather than the caption.
Integration events added Added the following DocXtender integration events:

  • OnDropHandlerOnBeforeAttachOrUploadV2: Triggered from drag drop uploads in javascript. Same as V1, except it includes file path and storage behavior parameters.

Note: OnDropHandlerOnBeforeAttachOrUpload (v1) is obsolete. The event is still triggered first to ensure backwards compatibility with existing extensions

  • OnBeforeHandleNonInteractiveUploadV2: Triggered before a non-interactive upload. Same as V1, except it includes a file path parameter.

  • OnBeforeSaveDocumentFromIWXIntegration: Triggered before an upload from external integration. Allows overriding the file properties, record, storage behavior etc.
  • OnBeforeOpenForRecRef and OnAfterOpenForRecRef: Triggered via the event library. The events allow external apps to override or extend document attachment retrieval for custom RecordRefs and support custom folder structure creation in non-interactive scenarios.
Event SaveDocumentFromIWXIntegration() improved Procedure SaveDocumentFromIWXIntegration() is now public, allowing easier integrations with DocXtender from external extensions.
Document attachment details The Upload to Sharepoint action defaults to using the old login based system, unless non-interactive mode is enabled on the setup page.

Non-Interactive uploads updated Duplicate file uploads are now handled based on the Duplicate Behavior setting on the DocXtender Setup page.
Resolved drag/drop upload issue Resolved an issue where drag/drop uploads to SharePoint would occasionally fail silently on the first try.
Control add in updated The control add in now uses msal-browser.js v4.11. Requires granting consent to a new azure app registration in your tenant.

Updates

Update Description
Allow non-interactive uploads to SharePoint Enabled Non-Interactive uploads to SharePoint. This allows integration from Warehouse Insight, Quality Inspector, and other external applications or web services. Optional setting to create and attach SharePoint Share links to the current record upon uploading.
Prevent crashes when uploading to the default SharePoint site/folder Added extra handling to prevent the JavaScript control add in from crashing when the Site and Folder names are left blank on the DocXtender setup page.
Fixed duplicate shared documents folder Fixed an issue where having “Shared Documents” as the SharePoint folder on the DocXtender setup page would end up with a duplicate folder of the same name inside the Shared Documents library.
Added an action to upload existing attachments to SharePoint Added an action to the Document Attachment Details page to upload existing attachments to SharePoint. Users are prompted if they wish to delete the attachments upon uploading. Requires that Non-Interactive mode is enabled.

Feature Description
Drag and drop to the Attachments FactBox Added the ability to drag and drop most common file types on to the Attachments FactBox settings:

  • Drop Behavior:
    • Silent: Only attach the file.
    • Confirmation: Notify drop was successful; ask if user wants to open the attachments window.
  • Duplicate Behavior:
    • Prevent: Error message and does not attach the file.
    • Rename Automatically: Appends timestamp to file name and attaches.
    • Rename Prompt: Prompts user to rename, appends timestamp, and does not cancel drop.
