Receive Items with a Warehouse Receipt

You are here:

The following describes how to receive items on your handheld with a warehouse receipt.

Step 1

From the WMS Express home screen, select Receive.

Step 2

A list of available warehouse receipts will be displayed. If you have not created a warehouse receipt for the source document (purchase order, transfer order etc.) the source document will display here instead. You can open the source document and WMS Express will create the warehouse receipt for you.

Step 3

Scan the warehouse receipt or source document barcode to open the document. If you do not have a barcode you can manually open the document with a double-tap on the document or by tapping the document and selecting Menu > Choose—or, if your handheld has a physical keyboard—tapping the document and pressing Enter.

Step 4

The warehouse receipt will open and display a list of items to receive.

Step 5

Scan the item you want to receive. If you do not have a barcode you can manually select the item with a double-tap on the item or by tapping the item and selecting Menu > Change Quantity—or, if your handheld has a physical keyboard—tapping the item and pressing Enter.

Step 6

The next step depends on how you select the item and whether the item requires item tracking information (lot and serial numbers and their expiration dates).

  • Method #1: Scan the item
    • A dialog box will appear prompting you to enter the quantity, unit of measure, and item tracking information (if applicable). Enter these and then select OK.
  • Method #2: Manually select the item
    • Scenario A: No item tracking
      • A dialog box will appear prompting you to enter the quantity and unit of measure. Enter these and then select OK.
    • Scenario B: Item tracking required
      1. The Item Tracking screen will appear.
      2. From the Item Tracking screen, select Menu > Add.
      3. Enter the quantity, unit of measure, and item tracking information, then select OK.
      4. Repeat for each lot or serial number.
      5. Once all item tracking information has been entered, select Menu > Close.

The Qty. to Handle will be updated in Business Central.

Step 7

Once the items are received, select Menu > Post. A confirmation dialog box will appear, select Yes to post the receipt.

You say that we can change the Unit of Measure on a Warehouse Receipt, using the Android Scanner. How is this possible if we can’t do this in Business Central.? The Unit of Measure field in BC is R/O. In order to do that, I have to go back to the P.O., back out the line as Pieces, lets say; and add it back in as Case Pack of 20 or whatever. Or maybe WMS Express can do it, I just don’t know how.

    Sincerely,

      Hi Steve,

When you handle an item using WMS Express (whether that be receiving, putting away, picking etc.) you have the option to specify that you are handling any Unit of Measure that has been set up for the item in Business Central. This does not change the Unit of Measure on the line, it simply does a quantity conversion and records the quantity in the line Unit of Measure.

For example, say you have the two following Units of Measure:

PCS = 1 (base Unit of Measure)
      BOX = 20 PCS

If your receipt line is for 20 PCS, you could instead specify that you have received 1 BOX on the scanner, and we will record that you have received 20 PCS on the receipt line.
