Create a Test Automatically with a Put-Away or Movement into a Bin in Quality Inspector

You are here:

This walkthrough goes through a scenario of having a quality inspection test created automatically when posting a put-away in a location with warehouse handling.

A common scenario is put-aways triggering a test, whether it be warehouse handling for receipts or production; however, it can be used for scenarios such as triggering a test creation when product is moved into a quarantine bin.

This automation can also be combined with Quality Inspector’s inspection bin routing feature. For example, selected items can be configured so that warehouse put-aways are automatically directed to a designated inspection or quarantine bin. A Movement Into Bin Test Generation Rule can then create the required Quality Inspection Test when the inventory is actually moved into that bin. This provides a coordinated workflow where inventory is physically routed for inspection and the inspection record is created automatically as part of the warehouse process. For details on configuring the routing portion of this process, see Route Put-Aways to Inspection Bins in Quality Inspector.

Prerequisites

  • Use a W1-ENU-Extended base data with “Contoso” sample demo data as a baseline with the “WHITE” location and the “WRB-1002” item.
  • Ensure the Assisted Setup Wizard was run.
  • If any previous test cases were followed, set the Activation Trigger to “Disabled” on all existing test generation rules.
  • On the Quality Inspection Setup, set Show Test to “Automatic and Manually Created Tests”.
