Improvement Description
Document attachments When deleting a parent record (Field, Test, Test Line, Template, Template Line, Tool), the associated attachments are deleted.
Item attributes in wizards Extended rule generation wizards to support item attributes.
Move License Plate Improved to allow changing the bin on a license plate and leveraging a license plate’s ability to automatically reclass.
Auto record output and scrap Improved to allow the automatic recording of production output and production scrap as a disposition with a workflow.
Template grade condition configs When changing the Field code for a template line, previous grade condition configuration records referring to the old Field code are deleted.

Improvement Description
Failure Analysis Page Added a page to help with simple failure correlation analysis. Feedback on this new feature is appreciated.
Tool blocking Added a feature that prevents using a tool if the tool’s calibration is expired, and optionally prevents recording values using a tool where the tool calibration is overdue.
Signature data type Added a signature data type field to help with multi-level approvals.
NCR button Added a button to create an NCR directly from a test (when configured to do so).
NCR process configuration wizard Added an NCR process configuration wizard to help new installs configure NCR related processes.
Blank No. Series Resolved issue with an item reclass batch configured with no number series not using the quality inspection test number when recording entries.
Date Picking in Business Central Improved the date picking experience in Business Central while recording date test values when using a date field in a test.

There is no change to Shop Floor interface, Warehouse Insight interface, Microsoft Teams, and phone or tablet interfaces.

Rule wizards Resolved an issue where generation rule wizards would sometimes override a rule when making a new rule.
Word layout Resolved an issue when the default word layout is used with multiple tests.
PDF attachments When using the NCR report to generate PDFs added an ability to embed PDFs attached to the test as attachments within the generated NCR PDF.
NCR template type Added NCR template type to Quality Inspection Templates to help with categorizations.
NCR Test No. Creating an NCR from an existing test will automatically set the NCR Test No. (useful for processes that require FAIR Form 3 reporting).
Tracking specification quantities Resolved an issue where created tests would not use the quantity from the tracking specification.
NCR sample data Added additional sample data for more NCR processes.
Grade conditions Resolved an issue with grade conditions for template lines not being removed when a template is deleted.
Find Entries Resolved the error “The table IDs do not match” when using the “Find Entries” in some circumstances. Included in release 7.26.9666.1
Word layouts Resolved an issue where new word layouts were not rendering consistently. Included in release 7.26.9676.5
Mixed grades visibility Resolved an issue where multiple mixed and incompatible promoted grades could cause unexpected column visibility. Included in release 7.26.9683.1
General Inspection Report Resolved an issue where the default layout rendered duplicate notes.

Improvement Description
Adaptive Cards for Data Entry Provided another means to capture simple test data with adaptive cards in Microsoft Teams. More grade blocking options Added more grade blocking options:

  • Lot Allow Sales Release
  • Allow Outbound Sales Tracking

Requires Business Central 22 or newer.
My Notifications Improved Notifications to now use “My Notifications” to allow suppressing unwanted notifications.
Influence put-away bins Added an ability to influence the bins or zones used on warehouse put-aways, including the ability to automatically split a put-away line when sampling. Requires Business Central 27.
Notifications Added ability to use notifications when possible when a test has been made.
New Sales to Production Trigger Added a new automated trigger to allow an automated test to be created when a released production order is created from a sales order.

Planned start date Updated planned start date to be editable on the quality inspection card, and changed how the ending date-time behaves.
Bin lookup Updated bin choice in the workflow editor to use the selected location.
LookupTable function Resolved an issue with lookup table when used with integer fields.
Sample worksheet Improved the behavior of the assist edit functionality on the sample worksheet, and resolved an issue where the sample worksheet can sometimes jump to the last record.
Due date regionalization Resolved an issue with the role center KPIs having issues in some regions when resolving the tests that are due.
Purchase Line tracking Resolved an issue where automated tests with a line without tracking following a line with tracking in the same process could end up with the tracking details.
Updated changing tests assigned to others Resolved issue with allow tests assigned to others setting. Included in release 7.25.9560.4
Updated Lot Allow Sales setting Separated Lot Allow Sales setting into two settings “Lot Allow Sales Shipping” and “Lot Allow Sales Return”. Included in release 7.25.9560.4

Create PDF attachments of Quality Reports Added an ability to create attachments of printable reports such as the Certificate of Analysis, General Inspection, and First Article Inspection. Requires a minimum of Business Central 26.
Ability to add attachments from tests Added an ability to add attachments from tests to sales order related email drafts. Requires Business Central 26 SaaS or newer, not supported in on-premise environments.
Skip – Lot Introduction of the ability to do skip-lot when using automated test generation for receipts and for production. Requires Business Central 26 SaaS or newer.

Allow finish Providing the ability to determine which grades allow finishing.
Word layouts Word layouts have been added to some reports.
Whse receipt posting with multiple lots Resolve issues with Business Central 27 when using posting with warehouse receipts and multiple item tracking lots received multiple times.
Finished by User ID visibility You can set the Finished by User ID field to visible (hidden by default).
Allowable values on lookups Improved field configuration by automatically updating allowable values for lookup table-based fields when the lookup filter changes.
Prevent finishing in grades Added ability to prevent finishing a test when a test is currently in a specific grade (e.g., inprogress).
Source configuration rename Resolved issue renaming a source configuration.

Label report access Business Central 26 and newer (SaaS only) have access to an example barcode label report using Business Central’s new barcode generation.
Improved default Item Prod Journal to Test Source configuration Prioritized Quantity (Base) field to ensure accurate Quality Inspection Test Source Quantity when creating tests from partial production output.
Improved transfer usability Improved usability between direct vs. non-direct transfers when using transfers as a disposition.
XLIFF localization changes Added missing table field captions allowing additional localization, and modified label declarations to make XLIFF easier to translate. Existing customized XLIFFs may need adjustments.
Improved sample source feature Added two simpler approaches of influencing the sample size when creating a test that allow defining fixed quantities and a percentage instead of using AQL to define sample size. The default value remains AQL and is the behavior for installs previously using AQL to influence sample size.
Added FactBoxes Added FactBoxes to several documents to help count the number of tests for the document, the selected line, and the item.
Create test when purchase order is released A test can now be automatically triggered when a purchase order is released.
Case sensitivity in expressions When looking up a field for use in an expression the lookup is now case insensitive. The previous behavior was that the field lookup would only work when the case matched exactly.

Customer lookup You can use “Customer” and “Cust” for customer field lookups when the tests are related to a customer. [Customer:No.] and [Cust:No.] both return the No. field for the customer.
OptimizeForTextSearch Several fields added in the Quality Inspection Test Header and Quality Inspection Test Line have been flagged with the OptimizeForTextSearch to leverage newer Business Central 25 search features.
Create tests for selection Improved support for creating tests for a selection of lots from the item tracking page when opened a few times in a row.
Default condition Updated how default grade conditions get passed from a grade into a field.
Negative values in wizard Updated experience using negative values in the wizard to prevent it from automatically switching to advanced mode for simple ranges.
Tooltip updates Updated tooltips on grade configuration screens.
Generation Rule Intent visibility Changed Intent field to be visible by default on the Test Generation Rule List page
Sampling-only fields in expressions Resolved issue where expressions that only referenced sampling fields would not always update.
Generation rule wizards Starting a generation rule wizard defaults to the filtered template.
Updated error messages Updated error messages when locations and similar fields exceed accepted length when used in a filter in the generation rule wizards. Also updated error message when deleting a field when the field is used on existing tests.
Updated confirmation text Updated the confirmation dialog text when changing default conditions on grades.
Template line instructions Resolved issue with specific template line instructions inconsistently deleting when a template line is removed from a template.
Field card updates Updated usability of the lookup FastTab group on the field card. The group is only editable when the field is a lookup type.
Updated behavior When Quality Inspector is set to hidden, tests are not created if they were previously created. If any test generation rules are disabled, you are prompted to disable them.
Partial receipts with mixed received + invoice Resolved issue where partial receipts when mixed with both receive-only and receive+invoice could create duplicate tests.
Updated tool configuration Updated workflow of adding tools to a template when no tools yet exist in the system.
Pass description length Updated error message and handling when pass descriptions exceed 500 characters.
Sales return source configuration Added source configuration to map sales lines from a sales return to test.
Updated Test Generation Rule column visibility Updated logic when making columns automatically visible or invisible.
Updated template tools Updated support when removing a planned tool from a template line.
Unit of measure in field wizard Changed unit of measure in field wizard from dropdown to assist-edit.
Updated batch validation Updated batch name validation logic.
Update templates from fields Resolved issue where template lines would not update after changing the source field.
Scheduled test issue resolved Resolved an issue where non-specific tests with both condition filters and item filters could result in an unexpected error when scheduling periodic tests. Included in release 7.23.9404.1
Numerical expressions grade Resolved issue with numerical grade expression grade evaluation. Included in release 7.23.9406.1

Added bulk operations Provided the ability to multi-select multiple records to bulk finish, bulk re-open, bulk pick-up, and bulk-un-assign from the desktop view. Not available for mobile.
Added views and cues for due tests Added two new views “Open and Due (all)” and “Open and Due (mine)”. Two cues with the same name and capabilities have also been added to the role center.
Added UOM to FAIR Form 3 The example FAIR Form 3 report has been altered to include the Unit of Measure (if defined) in section 9.
Added ability to create periodic tests Added ability to create periodic tests via a job queue. See: todo: insert documentation link here.
Added block/unblock package Added a workflow response to block and unblock a package.
Quantity field visible by default The Quantity field is now visible by default on the Quality Inspection Test page.

No. series additional support Added additional support for more scenarios with batches that use a no. series in a negative adjustment item journal.
Generation rule prompt If adjusting a rule, all triggers are set to disabled, and the action is changed, then no validation prompt about automation is displayed.
Namespace change for Developers Added Namespaces to all Quality Inspector objects to work with Business Central.

If you are updating customizations to a newer runtime and a newer version of Quality Inspector then your customization, you may need to add using statements to match.

Common using statements are likely:

Improvement Description
Added item availability actions Added item availability actions on desktop test list and card pages. Not available on mobile.
Assembly order output A test can now be automatically triggered when assembly order output is posted.
Dispositions use notifications Dispositions have been updated to use notifications instead of messages where possible.
Purchase return order disposition Added new purchase return order disposition.
Auto-hide unit of measure on tests If a test has been created on the desktop interface and no unit of measure codes is being used on any fields in the test, the unit of measure field automatically hides.
Generation rule restrictions Provided an ability to limit whether a rule can be used for automatic or manual generation of rules.
Sample rounding Added ability to configure how samples are rounded when rolled into a sample summary.
AQL Sample Summary of First Passed Value Added Sample Summary of first passed value has been added for scenarios with only AQL failures, but no line failures are desired.
Blank value behavior change For numerical field types, a blank value is no longer treated as a ”0” when checking for pass or grade conditions.

If you have a decimal field where you want it to be considered optional, then you will need to set the ‘Default Value’ to be the optional value, such as 0.  If you previously used blank to be a pass for optional values (your pass condition would consider 0 a pass, such as 1..2|0) then you would use 0 in the default value for the field. Any open test created prior to updating to 7.21 or newer would need to have the value 0 filled in on existing open tests.
Added create test action Added the Create Test action to the Warehouse Entries page to help with lot warehouse tracked and serial warehouse tracked items.
Added hidden column Made Line No. Available column visible on template and test.
Create on refresh Introduced an option to automatically generate a test when refreshing a production order.
Added to sample worksheet Added additional item-related columns.

Resolved Item Availability By Lot No. Test issue Resolved an issue where if an item is both lot and serial tracked, the test count showing in the Item Availability By Lot No. would incorrectly exclude other tests.
Triggers on generation rules There is now an ability to define triggers on a rule level allowing for more advanced generation rules.
Updated document attachments Updated document attachments to support Business Central 25 changes.
Serialized outbound transfers If the serialized-only item also used an expiration date when doing an outbound transfer, the serial item’s expiration date is not added on the reservation entries for the transfer order.
Find by source record Updated support for finding existing tests by the source record when determining whether to create a new test.
Bin code size in workflow Resolved issue where some bin codes could be truncated when configured in workflows.
Workflows from filtered tests Resolved issue of a filtered test by the Status field triggering workflow dispositions that depend on an unfiltered status fields.
Set database value disposition configuration Resolved an issue where the field and value expression in database dispositions could clear out during configuration.
Template field configuration Resolved an issue where updating some fields could cause other fields to revert to their previous value.
Updated drag-and-drop assignments view Updated drag-and-drop assignments view to use Graphical Scheduler 2.0.
Resolved negative quantity issue Resolved default sample configuration value that could inadvertently cause Warehouse Journal Line Creation to create a test with a negative quantity.

Improved Find Entries Added assistance for Business Central with posting date filters when Find Entries is used with untracked items.
Pass / Fail quantities Improved when to use manually entered passed and failed amounts on a test in actions and dispositions.

Improvement Description
Units of Measure Units of measure can be configured on the Quality Inspection field, and Quality Inspection Template specification line. The unit of measure can be used in pass/grade descriptions by using [UOM].
First Article Inspection Added a report to help with First Article Inspection Reporting Form 3 (FAIR Form 3).
Measurement Notes Added an ability to record notes for a given measurement on a Quality Inspection Test.
Work Instructions Introduced the ability to define multiple work instructions for each measurement field on a quality inspection template.
Additional Fields available for personalization Added additional fields, such as the Allowable Values, into the test subform (hidden by default) to allow those fields to be easily customized.
Tooling Added ability to configure designed tooling for a given specification on a template and to record tool identification numbers on a quality inspection test.
API updates Added AddPicture, in addition to the existing TakeNewPicture, allowing you to add pictures with streams. Added OnBeforeAddPicture, and OnAfterAddPicture.
