Routing Analysis

You are here:

Routing Analysis is useful when you want to evaluate routing performance across multiple finished production orders, rather than investigate a single production order. It uses historical production results to help identify operations whose actual run times consistently differ from the configured routing times.

This makes Routing Analysis useful for identifying recurring production-time differences and deciding whether the standard times configured on a routing should be reviewed or updated.

The Routing Analysis tool provides statistics on historical routing operation run times, those on finished production orders, to allow for analysis of execution efficiency and variability. Routing Analysis allows you to edit routing operation times.

  1. Navigate to Routing Analysis in Business Central.
  2. Set the following fields as needed:
    • Routing No.
    • Prod. Order Start Date
    • Prod. Order End Date
    • Min. Average Variance
    • Min. Std. Deviation
    • Routing Line Display
  1. Select Generate.
  2. Select one of the following values on a line to edit the corresponding routing line value, as needed (the routing may be certified when making changes):
    • Setup Time
    • Run Time
    • Wait Time
    • Move Time

Routing Analysis vs. Production Order Analysis

Use Routing Analysis when you want to compare routing performance across historical finished production orders and identify patterns in actual versus expected operation times.

If you instead need to investigate one specific production order, use Production Order Analysis. Production Order Analysis compares expected and actual component quantities, setup time, run time, and production costs for the selected production order, including the associated variances.

For more information, see Analyzing Production Order Variances with Production Order Analysis.
