Create a new template

Prerequisite: Ensure the Assisted Setup Wizard was run.

1. Navigate to the Quality Inspection Templates list page.
2. In the action bar area, click “New” and view the newly opened card page.
3. Type in a unique code for the new template.
4. Type in a description for the new template.
5. If not using the no. series defined on the Quality Inspector Setup page, specify the no. series to be used in “Quality Inspection Nos.”.
6. If not using the default caption expression defined on the “Quality Inspector Setup” page, specify the expression in “Caption Expression”.
7. Set the “Template Type” set to “Balloon / Bubble”. This will enable the Balloon No./Characteristic No. an Charactersistic Designator columns on the template lines.
8. If using Acceptable Quality Limits, set the “Default AQL Grouping Code”, “Default Inspection Level”, and “Default Acceptable Quality Limit”.
9. In the “Lines” section, select the “Add Field(s) To This Template” action.
10. Use the “Quality Inspector Field Wizard” to add measurement lines to the template. These will be the blueprint for the inspections performed on the test.
11. Add the Balloon No./Characteristic No. and Characteristic Designator references for each line.

Attach documents to a template

Prerequisite: An existing Quality Inspection Template.

1. Navigate to the Quality Inspection Template Card page.
2. Ensure the factbox pane is visible.
3. Select the “Template Attachments” header and choose the “Upload Files” action. Drag and drop or browse for the required file.
4. On a test created from the template, the attached files will be visible in the Template Documents factbox. Clicking the link in the factbox will download the attached file.

Attach instructions to a template line

Prerequisite: An existing Quality Inspection Template with at least one template line.

1. Navigate to the Quality Inspection Template Card page.
2. Select the desired template line.
3. Select the “Instructions” action.
4. In the opened Instruction List page, select the note field. For a short instruction or description, type in the field. Assist edit the field to open a larger text editor for longer instructions. The note field corresponds to the Reference Location field of the First Article Inspection (Form 3) report.
5. If further documentation is available via a URL, enter the URL in the URL field. If further documentation is available via a file, select the “Attachments” action. In the opened Attached Documents page, select the Attach a file link to upload the document.
6. On a test created from the template, the instructions will be visible in the Instructions factbox. Hovering over the note will reveal the full note. Clicking the link will navigate to the URL or download a single attached file.

Generate a First Article Inspection (Form 3) Report

Prerequisite: An existing Quality Inspection Test generated from a Balloon / Bubble template.

1. Navigate to the Quality Inspection Test.
2. Select “Reports” in the action bar.
3. Select the “First Article Inspection (Form 3)” action.
4. In the report request page, select any further filters if necessary. Select the “Preview and Close” or “Print” button.
