Manage Equipment and Assets in Maintenance Manager

You are here:

This article guides you through learning to create, manage, and link equipment and assets for maintenance tracking.

Create Equipment from Fixed Assets

  1. Navigate to Maintenance Equipment Assets in Business Central.
  2. Select the required asset.
  3. Select Maintenance Manager / Create Maintenance Equipment Item.
  4. Ensure the activation date reflects the actual usage start date for accurate tracking (by default, comes from the depreciation start date; update as necessary).

The Fixed Asset serial number carries over to the created Equipment Item.

Create Equipment from Item List

Use the normal item process here to update required item fields. If you did not use the maintenance template during item creation, select the appropriate posting groups.

Understand Maintenance Item Fields

The following are Maintenance Item Fields:

  • Item Usage Type:
    • Maintenance Equipment: Items where maintenance is to be performed and tracked.
    • Maintenance Parts: Items only used for maintenance to help segregate from regular inventory.
  • Maintenance Fast Tab:
    • Capacity Type/Capacity No.: Link the Equipment to related work center/machine to auto update posted capacity of run time or output quantities.
    • Link Fixed asset Numbers and Fixed Asset serial numbers where applicable.
    • Activation date: Ensure this is updated to reflect the day the equipment is put into service/use.
  •  No item tracking or inventory serialization and inventory is a one-to-one ratio to item number.

Assignments and Intervals

Maintenance Assignments assigns specific maintenance tasks and their associated Intervals such as time-based, runtime, output count, or distance.

Update interval values manually or automatically as required.
