Capture the Container (Vat/Vessel/Bin) from the Production Order when a Test is Made from a Production Order in Quality Inspector

You are here:

This scenario is when a bin on the production order represents a concept (e.g., a container, a vat, or a vessel) that needs to be captured at the point of time of testing a given lot.

If the purpose is to capture a snapshot of the concept the lot was tested in, use the following approach.

If your goal is to identify which bin a lot is in at any given point in time, use warehouse lot tracking and the bin contents and warehouse lot entries instead.

The following steps presume that you(r):

  • Have a Quality Inspection Template that you want to use.
  • Have a Quality Inspection Test Generation rule that is associated with production output for that Quality Inspection Template.
  • Have configured to create the test automatically on production output.
  • Are using the standard/stock Quality Inspector Source configurations.
  • Bin represents either a container, vat, vessel, or similar concept.
  • Goal is to snapshot the bin at the point of time, that it is not to identify the current bin for the given lot.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Quality Inspector Source Configuration List in Business Central.
  2. Locate “ROUTINGTOTEST” and select the button.
  3. Locate the Add Information From Related Tables section.
  4. Select “PRODLINETOROUTING” line, and select  button / Edit.
  5. Locate the What information should be added to the test section, locate a new line, and select “Bin Code” from the production order line in the From Field Name field.
  6. Select an unused source custom field (e.g., “Source Custom 6”) in the same line in the To Field Name field.
  7. Close the configuration screens.

When you create a new test for production output, the test now copies the Bin Code field from the production order line into the Source Custom 6 field (example name used above) on the Quality Inspection Test Header, making it visible in the Source Details group on a Quality Inspection Test.
