Configure MxAPS Manually or for Advanced Functionality

You are here:

To configure MxAPS manually or for advanced functionality, navigate to the MxAPS Setup page. You can define the following on the MxAPS Setup page:

  • Defaults
  • Schedule Behavior
  • Connection Settings
  • Time Unit of Measure Configuration
  • Advanced
  • Experimental Features

Defaults

Name Description
Schedule Result Nos. Specifies which number series to use for the scheduling result.
Maximum Early Days Specifies the number of days before the due date that the operation can finish when just in time scheduling has been enabled for the operation. When the maximum early days on a production order routing line is blank, this value is used.
Default Order Priority Specifies the default order priority when the order priority is not set on a production order.
Default Production Cell No. Specifies the default production cell when no production cell is defined.
Default Graphical Scheduler Tree Specifies the default tree to use in the graphical scheduler.
Setup Segment Code Specifies the segment code for a production order routing line’s setup time.
Run Segment Code Specifies the segment code for a production order routing line’s run time.
Consider Past Moves

Specifies if the scheduler should consider manually initiated moves from the active schedule when generating a new schedule. When the setting is set to:

  • Include Active Schedule: forces user-initiated manual movements of operations to stay on the work center or machine center the user moved them to based on the active schedule.
  • Ignore: causes the scheduler to ignore any manual operation movements made by the user and schedules using MxAPS logic. With this selection, manual movements are not considered.
Inventory Location Filter

Specifies if the location code on the production order component line is included in the secondary constraint definitions. When the setting is:

  • Do Not Filter: on global pool of inventory is available for all locations.
  • Filter by Location: inventory is considered by location and uses the location specified on the production order component line.

Schedule Behavior

Name

Description

Action to Take

Specifies what happens after a schedule is generated.

Object ID

Specifies which object runs if the selected action requires an object.

Object Name

Specifies the name of the running object.

Connection Settings

Name Description
API Key Specifies the connection key to the scheduling engine.
Service URL Specifies the service URL.

Time Unit of Measure Configuration

Due to the number of fields that MxAPS uses that represent a duration, the time units of measure for these fields are defined in a central location. For example, if the machine center preference is configured here in minutes, any values entered in the machine preference field on a routing line or alternate group line is considered in minutes.

Name Description
Resource Fence Specifies the time unit used to measure how long a resource is considered critical.
Update Specifies the time unit used when actual times are entered when production is reported.
Machine Transfer Specifies the time unit for material transfers between operations based on the work centers or machine centers involved.
Family Idle Specifies the time unit for family idle allowances.
Operation Lag Specifies the time unit for operation lags.
Cap Wait Specifies the time unit for wait time when orders are combined.
Just-In-Time Increment Specifies the time unit for the Just-In-Time increment factor.
Add/Adjust Delay Specifies the time unit for the add/adjust delay factor.
Machine Preference Specifies the time unit for the machine preference factor.
Scheduling Fence Specifies the time unit for the scheduling fence.
Segment Delay Specifies the time unit for intra segment delays.
Delay Increment Specifies the time unit for the delay increment.
Hole Unit Specifies the time unit for the hole heuristic.

Advanced

Name Description
I understand

Specifies if the user accepts the ability to enable troubleshooting and experimental features. When the setting is set to:

·       Unchecked: prevents users from enabling troubleshooting or experimental features.

·       Checked: enables the ability to enable or disable troubleshooting or experimental features.

Troubleshooting Features

Specifies if troubleshooting features are enabled or not.

Enabling troubleshooting features may cause identifying information (e.g., item numbers and production order numbers) to be transmitted to the scheduling engine service in a human readable format instead of abstracted using globally unique identifiers.

Experimental Features

The experimental features FastTab is visible if the I understand option has been checked in the Advanced FastTab.

Name Description
Experimental Features Specifies if experimental features are enabled or not.
