Validate Production

Validate Production

You are here:

Require a finished test before finishing the production order

Before a production order changes its status to Finished, it validates that a test exists and is finished. If no test exists, it fails; if a test exists but is open, it fails.

  1. Navigate to Quality Inspector Setup in Business Central.
  2. Locate the production validation section and select Before Finish.

Require a finished test before every x units

  1. Navigate to Quality Inspector Setup in Business Central.
  2. Locate the production validation section and select Every X Units.
  3. Define a quantity field for every x units in the enabled edit box.

Quantities are expected to be in the base unit of measure.

Note: When Find Behavior is set to tracking, this feature uses the production order and operation number when determining the quantities produced.

If 6 are produced in the same hour, a second test is not required; if 1 is produced 10 hours after the first output, a second test is required.

Production Update Control

This feature works as designed in Business Central 16 and newer. Using this specific feature in versions 13 through 15 may require a per-tenant-extension in some circumstances.

Set this feature to Enable so the document follows the production order as it goes through the statuses. If it is important that a quality inspection test show the Finished status, or if there are different finished production order numbers than released production order numbers and it’s also important to show that on the test itself, use Enable. If neither of these are important, set the feature to Do not update to improve performance.
