Graphical Scheduler views determine what information is displayed on the scheduler and how it is presented. In addition to the built-in data sources, you can use an Anything data source to display records from virtually any Business Central table and re-organize how the information is shown.

The default view in Graphical Scheduler will show Production Order routing lines grouped by work centers and machine centers.

This article will demonstrate an example how to create a new view, add an Anything data source, customize the text displayed within each scheduler cell, and group by production order number instead.

Create a new view

1. Open Graphical Scheduler.
2. Choose View.
3. Select New.
4. Enter:
   • No.: A unique identifier for the view (for example, EXAMPLE).
   • Description: A descriptive name.

Add an Anything data source

1. If the system added a default production order routing line data source, remove it, this example is demonstrating a different approach of grouping production order routing lines.
2. Select Add a Data Source.
3. Choose Anything.
4. Configure the data source:
   • Table No.: Enter the Business Central table to display. For example:
     • 5409 (Production Order Routing Line)
5. Change how it groups.
   1. In the “Where Is It” group click “Show More“.
   2. Change the tree (how it’s grouped).
      1. Click the “…” in the “Show In” action.
      2. Choose “Show All“, click ok.
      3. Choose “Miscellaneous” click ok.
      4. The “Show In” should now be showing “IWX Sched. Misc Flat”, or similar.
   3. Clear out the “Capacity Type Field No.” so that it is empty.  This should then clear out the field name in the “Capacity Type” automatically.
   4. Change Capacity No.:
      1. Select the field that identifies the capacity or resource that each record should be scheduled against.
      2. For this example, choose “Prod. Order No.“
   5. Close the screen.

The available options depend on the table you select.

Customize the cell template

The Cell Template controls the information shown inside each scheduled block.

1. Open the Cell Template editor.
2. Enter any static text you want to display.
3. Select Add Field to insert values from the selected table.
4. Search for and insert the required fields.

For example, you could create a template similar to:


Work Center: [Work Center No.]
[Type] [Routing No.]

When the scheduler is displayed, the field placeholders are replaced with the values from each record.

Close the view configuration card.

Open the view by choosing it from the list when choosing “View”.

You should now be seeing production order routing lines, grouped by Production Order Number in the left (“Where Is It”), with production order routing lines showing work center information in the cell text block.
