Shop Floor Insight: Shop Floor Native Phone Client

The Shop Floor Native Phone Client, with a role center and special pages, has been introduced to allow the use of some functionality found only on the Shop Floor within Business Central, using standard Business Central pages. This role center’s layout and fields are designed to be optimized for the Business Central phone client; however, you can use the role center within the normal Business Central web client and on the tablet. Barcode scanning is not supported on the phone-optimized Business Central pages.

In the Business Central client, most of the workflow integration options work with this mode except for the following:

  • JavaScript action
  • Custom menus
  • Custom barcodes

Not available in the Shop Floor Native Phone Client for the initial release:

  • Barcode scanning
  • Quality inspections
  • Job consumption
  • Tools panel
  • Document links
  • Picture panel
  • Color coding the time card line
  • Grouping the dispatch by employee assignment
  • Take and Un-take
  • Additional search box filtering (use standard BC filtering instead)
  • Output history
  • Recording output to a license plate
  • Production consumption initial quantities configuration

Set User ID

As with Business Central, you must set your User ID to use the Shop Floor Native Phone Client. The entry in the Shop Floor Employee List (Employee, Resource, Work Center, or Machine Center) connected to that User ID will be linked to the mobile until switched in Business Central.

  1. Navigate to Business Central.
  2. Search for Shop Floor Employee List and select the page.
  3. Select on the required line and select Edit.
  4. Select the User ID dropdown and select the User ID to attribute it to.
  5. Close the card to save changes.

Clock On/Clock Off

The Shop Floor Native Phone Client’s Clock On and Clock Off feature allows the user to easily Clock On and Clock Off from their mobile instead of using the full browser interface best suited for a larger screen.

  1. Press the middle to access Production.
  2. Select the required production line.
  3. Select the Action field (automatically clock on/clock off).

Use Time Card

The Time Card screen allows you to modify different aspects of time cards. The actions and outcome are the same as on the Shop Floor Client. Complete the following in the Time Card screen, as needed:

  1. Press the left to access Time Card.
  2. Select the necessary time card line.
  3. Input a comment, if needed:
    1. Select and select Comment.
    2. Select and input comment.
    3. Press  to save the comment.

Edit Output

  1. Press the middle to access Production.
  2. Select the necessary production line.
  3. Press and select Output.
  4. Modify the following fields, as needed:
    • Output Quantity
    • Scrap Quantity
    • Scrap Code
  5. Press and select Register.

Edit Consumption

  1. Press the middle to access Production.
  2. Select the necessary production line.
  3. Press and select Consumption.
  4. Select the item to consume from the Bill of Materials.
  5. Press and select Consume.
  6. Input the quantity to consume in the Quantity
  7. Input into the following fields, as needed:
    • Lot No.
    • Serial No.
  8. Press and select Register.

Clock On/Clock Off Job Tasks

  1. Press the right to access Job Tasks.
  2. Complete one of the following options to clock on/clock off:
    • Swipe left to Clock On; swipe right to Clock Off.
    • Select the line and press the action that toggles Clock On/Clock Off.
    • Select the line and use the menu actions to Clock On/Clock Off.
