Use Quality Inspection Tests

You are here:

A quality inspection test is used to collect data for a quality inspection. The test lines are a collection of measurements or questions to be investigated on the test. These measurements are defined on a test template. A test generation rule is used to gather the necessary information from the source document (such as quantities) to create the test. Based on the test value, each test line is assigned a grade. The grades of the test lines are rolled up to assign an overall grade for the test.

Brick Middle Right The middle-right field on a mobile interface.

Text expressions can be used, and are configurable on the Quality Inspector Setup page.

Brick Bottom Left The bottom-left field on a mobile interface.

Text expressions can be used, and are configurable on the Quality Inspector Setup page.

Brick Bottom Right The bottom-right field on a mobile interface.

Text expressions can be used, and are configurable on the Quality Inspector Setup page.

Sample Size How many samples are included in this test. This can be set manually, however it can also be determined by configuring AQL tables.

On a test this is typically determined automatically when the test is created based on the AQL configuration from the incoming quantity.

Inspection Level Specifies the ISO 2859 standard inspection level. Changing this will change the sample size on the test.

On a test this is typically determined automatically when the test is created based on the AQL configuration.

General Level II is the default setting for most scenarios, and is more commonly altered after a test is created to impact the sample size based on AQL configuration tables.

AQL Grouping Code A grouping code allows you to maintain separate AQL configurations. If you only use one, leave this blank.

On a test this is typically determined automatically when the test is created based on the AQL configuration.

Sampling Plan Code Specifies the Sampling Plan AQL letter code. Typically, A-Z.

On a test this is typically determined automatically when the test is created based on the AQL configuration.

AQL Specifies the AQL level. Typical values are 0.065, 0.1, 0.15, 0.25, 0.4, 0.65, 1.0, 1.5, 2.5, 4, 6.5. You can create your own values.
Acceptance Point The maximum number of defects that are tolerated in the sample size. If the number of defects is at or below the acceptance point, the batch is considered acceptable and passes the inspection. This number is derived from the AQL, which is the worst tolerable process average (mean) level for the quality of the product.
Rejection Point The minimum number of defects that would trigger a failure. When this is exceeded then the batch is deemed to be unacceptable.
Pass Quantity A manually entered field for non-sampling tests or derived from the quantity of passed sampling lines for sampling tests.
Fail Quantity A manually entered field for non-sampling tests or derived from the quantity of failed sampling lines for sampling tests.

Test Line Fields

Test Line Field Description
Test No. The document number of the test.
Retest No. The retest number of the test. An initial test will have a retest number of ‘0’, and subsequent retests will increase by one.
Template Code The code of the template that was used to generate the test
Template Line No. The line number of the template line that was used to generate the test line.

Test Value Blob When set, large test value data. Typically used for larger text that is captured.
Balloon No. Specifies a reference to the balloon number/Characteristic No. on the main engineering document associated with this template. This is used in AS9102 First Article Inspection Reporting Form 3 (FAIR Form-3) for section 5.
Characteristic Designator References the characteristic designator on the main engineering document associated with this template. This is used in AS9102 First Article Inspection Reporting Form 3 (FAIR Form-3) for section 7. “Characteristic designators” are identified on engineering documents. Applicable design engineering also establishes definitions of those designators (including major/minor characteristics, key characteristics, structural characteristics, etc.). AS9102 does not define these standards and they can be drawing specific.
Numeric Value An evaluated numeric value of Test Value for use in calculations.

This is not set directly but instead is converted based on the ‘Test Value’ field.

Created DateTime The date and time when the test was created.
