Quality Inspector has several user interfaces available depending on the scenario involved:

• Full desktop interface: For use in Business Central.
• Phone role center: For use with the Business Central phone app.
• Tablet role center: For use with the Business Central tablet app.
• Warehouse Insight app add-on: For use with ruggedized devices (e.g., on a forklift or with handheld scanners).
• Shop Floor Insight integration: For use with recording inspection data while performing output or recording time (e.g., in-process checklists).

The full Quality Inspection Tests page is always available on Business Central’s main desktop interface. Use this interface if the person entering the data already had Business Central available and open for use as it provides all access to all capabilities within Business Central.

Business Central phone and tablet modes

Quality Inspector provides two additional role centers optimized for both the Business Central phone app and the Business Central tablet app. These role centers use specialized pages optimized for data entry using the Business Central phone. These take advantage of the brick field group for optimized data and provide configurable brick support. This requires a standard Business Central user licensed appropriately for the data they are accessing.

Industrial and Ruggedized Scanners with Warehouse Insight

The Warehouse Insight app is available via the add-on catalog for Quality Inspector (see Warehouse Insight Quality Inspector Integration). This provides another mobile option to enter test data when the available device is running Android and using Warehouse Insight.

The interface is optimized to work with smaller screens.

This interface is best used for scenarios where someone is doing quality checks from a forklift, or quality checks as part of initial receiving, or even final visual quality checks or checklists while preparing a shipment.

You can use this interface with a Business Central device license but it could also be used with user specific device licenses.

In-progress inspections with Shop Floor Insight

Shop Floor Insight provides a specialized interface that works with Quality Inspector and is optimized for use with Shop Floor Insight processes such as recording output to a production order, or performing in-process inspections, or performing work checklists on a given operation.

You can create ad-hoc tests and embedded tests while recording output.

This interface is best used when the quality checks in question are completed by the user producing the part. This interface is usually on a fixed terminal but can be on tablets in some scenarios.

This interface is used with a Business Central device licensing.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams can be used to capture quality inspection information and measurement test results by leveraging the adaptive cards capability of Quality Inspector.

Paper

In some scenarios, paper is the only option for users to record inspections or record checklists. 

Quality Inspector supports paper input by using Azure Document Intelligence to convert the document to a digital format.
