How to Create a Facility Readiness Check for a Location

You are here:

These instructions assume you want to perform a recurring daily activity for an entire facility.
In this example, the facility is represented by a Business Central location record.
If your facility is represented by a different record type, you can follow the same instructions and substitute the location record with the record that represents your facility instead.

Depending on the level of automation required, there are three or four areas to configure:

  1. A source configuration for the record that represents your facility, such as the location table.
  2. A quality inspection template containing the metrics and checks you want to collect.
  3. A test generation rule defining the criteria for the location(s) that require facility inspections.
  4. Optionally, a job queue entry to generate inspections automatically on a schedule, otherwise inspections can be created manually.

Ensure you have a source configuration for the required record

  • Navigate to Quality Inspector Source Configuration List in Business Central.
  • Select New and modify the following fields in the General section:
    • Code: FACILITY
    • Description: Facility Location Example
    • State: Enabled
    • From Table: Location
  • Modify the fields in the What Information Should be Added to the Test section:
    • From Field Name: Code
    • To Field Name: Document No.

Now you can use the location as a record to create your quality inspection test documents.

Create a Quality Inspection Template to use for automated tests

  • Navigate to Test Templates in Business Central.
  • Select New and modify the following fields in the General section:
    • Code: FACILITYREADY
    • Description: Facility Readiness Example
  • Select Add Field(s) To This Template and select Next.
  • Modify the following fields:
    • Description: Sanitation procedures completed?
    • Short name (Field Code): (auto populates with “SANITATIONPROCEDUREC”)
    • What type of data is it?: A choice from a list
  • Select Next.
  • Input “YES” on the first line and “NO” on the second line in the Code field.
  • Select Finish.
  • Select Add Field(s) To This Template and select Next.
  • Modify the following fields:
    • Description: Exits free from obstruction?
    • Short name (Field Code): (auto populates with “EXITSFREEFROMOBSTRUC”)
    • What type of data is it?: A choice from a list
    • Select Next.
    • Input “YES” on the first line and “NO” on the second line in the Code field.
  • Select Finish.

Create a Quality Inspection Test Generation Rule

  • Edit or open your Quality Inspection Template made in the previous step.
  • Select Test Generation Rules.
  • Select the Table field, select “Location”, and select OK.
  • In the filter field set the filter to the location(s) that you want to limit the readiness check to.

Optionally configure this quality inspection test to be created automatically

Full details can be found here (https://kb.dmsiworks.com/knowledge-base/configure-periodic-tests-in-quality-inspector/)

  • Navigate to the Quality Inspection Test Generation Rules list page in Business Central or from the template.
  • Enable editing of the list.
  • Select a test generation rule row to create a test for and ensure it has the following:
    • A condition filter.
    • The test generation rule is enabled.
  • Locate the Schedule Group column, input a new name (e.g., DAILY), and press Tab.
  • Select Yes when prompted with “There is no job queue entry yet for the schedule group of DAILY. Do you want to create one?”
    • Note: After selecting Yes, a job queue entry is made for report 23067647 “IWX QI Schedule Test”.
  • The created job queue entry now has a report page configuration filter set to the schedule group name you created. The created job queue entry is not scheduled or enabled.
  • Select Yes when prompted with “A job queue entry has been made to help schedule this group of DAILY. Do you want to see it?”
  • Note: The Business Central Job Queue Entries list page opens, filtered to include the job queue entry you made. This is the standard business central job queue entry page. For more information, see Microsoft’s Use job queues to schedule tasks.
  • Locate the new job queue entry and edit it.
  • Navigate to the Recurrence group and configure the schedule as desired.
  • Enable the job queue when ready.
