Dynamic Ship 2.9 supports automated shipment tracking updates using the Business Central Job Queue.

You can configure a Job Queue entry to periodically update tracking information on License Plates. This process retrieves the latest tracking status from the carrier and writes it back to the corresponding records.

How it works

The Job Queue runs in the background and updates License Plate tracking data at defined intervals.

Because this process writes data to records, it can affect active users if it runs during operational hours. Plan scheduling times carefully to avoid conflicts.

Scheduling considerations

Choose a schedule that balances system performance and tracking visibility.

A nightly schedule works well for most environments because it keeps tracking data current without affecting warehouse activity. Running the job more frequently, such as hourly, can support near real-time tracking, but shorter intervals increase system load and can introduce record locking.

Use more frequent scheduling only when your operations require near real-time updates. If the current status for one specific License Plate is needed, navigate to the License Plate Card and select Get Current Shipment Status.

Configuration

Configure this process the same way you configure any Business Central Job Queue.

1. Create a new Job Queue entry.
2. Assign the appropriate tracking update process.
3. Set the recurrence schedule based on your operational needs.

After you enable the Job Queue entry, Business Central updates tracking information automatically according to the defined schedule.

Recommended use

Treat this feature as a background synchronization process. Run it overnight by default unless your operation requires more frequent updates.
