Take and Attach a Picture to a Quality Inspection Test

You are here:

This article walks you through taking a picture and attaching it to a test; pictures are attached directly to a test without configuring a field. Attachments are used as you may need multiple images to depict a problem.

Before beginning, you must:

  • Ensure the Assisted Setup Wizard was run.
  • Have at least 1 Quality Inspection Test in the system.

Complete the following to take and attach a picture to a Quality Inspection Test:

  1. Navigate to Quality Inspector Setup in Business Central.
  2. Locate the Picture Upload Behavior.
  3. Select “Attach Document” and close Quality Inspector Setup.
  4. Navigate to Quality Inspection Tests.
  5. Select the required test, and select Manage / Edit.
  6. Select Actions / Take Picture.
  7. Take a picture and select Use.

The picture screen closes, and your picture is uploaded as an attachment to the test (in the FactBox under Attachments).

Using the “Take Picture” allows direct use of the camera to take a picture and automatically save to the test, or add as an attachment, or upload to SharePoint using DocXtender.

Picture Upload Behavior options:

  • “Just Store On Test” will only store the captured picture on the Quality Inspection Test record itself.  Only the most recent picture is retained.
  • “Attach Document” will store the picture as a Business Central attachment.
  • “Attach and Upload to OneDrive” will attach and upload to Microsoft OneDrive using your configuration in Business Central for OneDrive. Refer to Microsoft’s documentation for configuring OneDrive integration here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/across-onedrive-overview
  • “Attach and Upload with DocXtender” will use DocXtender to add the attachment and upload. This requires the use of the free (for SaaS) DocXtender app. DocXtender also allows the use of Sharepoint integration.  Sharepoint configuration details for DocXtender can be found here: https://kb.dmsiworks.com/knowledge-base/configure-non-interactive-mode-in-docxtender/
  • When using DocXtender with SharePoint the sharepoint folder structure will be yoursharepointhost.sharepoint.com → yoursitename → optional folder → Quality Inspection Test (folder) → QI123456789 (the test number will be another subfolder) → The attachment files themselves.
