Install and Configure Shop Floor Insight (On Prem)

  1. Navigate to the Shop Floor Insight’s page on AppSource and install the app.
  2. Enable I agree to the terms and conditions and select Next.
  3. Set the Getting Started Data field to Apply Getting Started Data.
  4. Select Next and select Yes.
  5. Select Finish.
  6. Navigate to the Shop Floor Setup page and select Download Service Installer (you are prompted with a SOAP and an ODATA URI for configuration).
  7. Select the URI that matches your enabled webservice mode in your Business Central Service configuration (if you do not select the correct URI, you may need to manually modify the configuration file with the correct matching port to allow Shop Floor Insight to connect properly to Business Central).
  8. Select OK.
  9. Locate the “Shop Floor Insight Install.msi” file and complete one of the following:
    • If you are on the dedicated server where the web service is being hosted: Double click the installer to start the installation process.
    • If you are not on the dedicated server where the web service is being hosted: Copy the installation file to the dedicated server and run it from there.
  10. Select Next.
  11. Paste the URI you copied into the Business Central Webservice URI field.
  12. Modify the Shop Floor Insight Production Service Port and Shop Floor Insight Sandbox Service Port fields to run on custom ports if needed.
  1. Enable Bind SSL certificate to this service to bind an SSL Certificate to the Shop Floor Insight Webservice if needed.
  2. Select one of the following if Business Central is installed on-premise :
    • I am using Business Central On-Premise with Windows Authentication
    • I am using Business Central On-Premise with Username/Password (Basic) Authentication
  3. Select Next.
  4. Locate the SSL Certificate (if bound) and input the password (if required) to extract the public key from the file.
  5. Enable permissions if needed.
  6. Accept the End-User License Agreement and select
  7. Select Install.
  8. Bookmark the Launch SFI Credential Manager and Production Credential Manager URIs.
  9. Select Finish on the installer and note:
    • If the page is displaying correctly, the Shop Floor Insight web service installed successfully, and you can test the connectivity to Business Central.
    • If the page is displaying an error or not loading correctly, you must investigate the Windows event log and attempt to start the Shop Floor Insight services manually or contact Insight Works’ Support for assistance.
  10. Select Sandbox Credential Manager to launch the credential manager for the sandbox test instance.
  11. Configure the login credentials for the Shop Floor Insight Webservice to use from this page.
  1. Select Generate Credential Manager Entry.
  2. Copy the URL from the second tab that opened, remove “CredentialManager”, and press Enter (redirects to the Shop Floor Insight login page).

If the service cannot connect to Business Central, the service may freeze while displaying the application logo. Check the service log file (C:\Log by default) for errors and contact Support for assistance.

If the service has connected to Business Central correctly, the login welcome message displays on the browser, and you can print employee badges and production barcodes from Business Central to log into the system and begin testing.
