When planning purchased raw materials, you may need to understand which finished or higher-level manufactured item is ultimately responsible for the component demand.

This is especially useful when a raw material is several levels below the finished item in a production BOM.

For example:

Finished Item A
→ Subassembly B
→ Subassembly C
→ Raw Material D

If Raw Material D appears as demand during planning, the Multi-Level BOM Viewer in Enhanced Planning Pack can help you understand the BOM structure connecting the raw material to the higher-level manufactured item.

Using the Multi-Level BOM Viewer

1. Open Multi-Level BOM Viewer in Business Central.
2. Select the Production BOM for the manufactured item you want to analyze.
3. Set the appropriate:
   • Date Filter
   • Quantity
   • Location Code
4. Expand the BOM levels in the list, or select Diagram View to display the BOM as a tree.
5. Follow the hierarchy through the intermediate subassemblies to the lower-level raw material.

The viewer displays the complete multi-level BOM structure rather than requiring you to open each Production BOM separately.

It also provides supply and demand information for components, including quantities associated with production orders, component lines, planning lines, sales orders, purchase orders, and inventory.

This makes it useful for answering questions such as:

• Which finished item uses this raw material?
• Which intermediate subassemblies connect the raw material to the finished item?
• How much of the component is required for the quantity being considered?
• Is sufficient inventory or incoming supply available for the component?
