Create an Inspection Checklist with an Override Checkbox

You are here:

The following article guides you through building a test template that creates an inspection checklist with multiple checklist fields. Include one inspection field that can allow all other checks to pass.

Solution 1: Using Simple Table Lookups

Prerequisite: Ensure the Assisted Setup Wizard was run.

  1. Navigate to “Quality Inspection Templates”
  2. In the action bar area, click “New” and view the newly opened Quality Inspection Template card page.
  3. Type in a unique code for the new template, e.g. “EODCHECKLIST”
  4. Type in a description for the new template.
  5. In the “Lines” section, select the “Add Field(s) To This Template” action.
  6. In the Quality Inspector Field Wizard, select the “New Field” option and click “Next”
  7. Provide a description for the override field, e.g. “Checks Completed”
  8. Select “A choice from a list” as the data type and click “Next”
  9. Keep the “A simple list of values” option selected. In the list section, create two options:
Pass Code Description
. CHECKSALLPASS Checks All Pass
. CHECKEACH Check Each
  1. In the “Default Value” field, assign the “Check Each” option.
  2. Select “Finished”
  3. In the “Lines” section, select the “Add Field(s) To This Template” action.
  4. In the Quality Inspector Field Wizard, select the “New Field” option and click “Next”
  5. Provide a description for the override field, e.g. “Sanitize Workstation”
  6. Select “A choice from a list” as the data type and click “Next”
  7. Keep the “A simple list of values” option selected. In the list section, create two options:
Pass Code Description
NO Not Completed
. YES Check Completed
  1. Select “Finished”
  2. Repeat steps 12-17 for additional checklist fields
  3. Assist edit the “Pass” field of the first non-override template line to open the Edit Template Card.
  4. The expression box will have YES. This is because the “Pass” checkbox was activated when creating the options for the field. In the action bar, select the “Add Special Text” action and select the CLASSIFY option. The [CLASSIFY(IfThisText;MatchesThisText;ThenThisValue)] placeholder will be added to the expression box.
  5. In the action bar, select the “Add Inspection Field” action and select the Checklist Completed field. The [CHECKLISTCOMPLETED] lookup variable will be added to the expression box.
  6. Now, use the added placeholders to create the following statements:

[CLASSIFY([CHECKLISTCOMPLETED];CHECKSALLPASS;”|YES)][CLASSIFY([CHECKLISTCOMPLETED];CHECKEACH;YES)]

The expression states – if the Checklist Completed field value matches CHECKALLPASS, the pass condition will be ” (blank value) or YES. If the Checklist Completed field matches CHECKEACH, the pass condition will be YES.

  1. From the Quality Inspection Template, select the “Test Generation Rules” action to open the Quality Inspection Generation Rules list page for the specific template. Add a generation rule for the desired source document.
  2. Return to the template card page and select the “Create Test” action. Provide the source record for the test. Click “OK” to create the test.

In the created test, notice the checklist fields will be in progress. The “Checklist Completed” field has defaulted to “Check Each”. Notice that changing the “Checklist Completed” field to “Checks all pass” updates the remaining checklist items to have a pass grade. Each field could also be updated individually to YES to pass if the “Checklist completed” field was left as “Check Each”.

Solution 2: Using Boolean Fields

Prerequisite: Ensure the Assisted Setup Wizard was run.

  1. Navigate to the “Quality Inspection Templates” page

The [CLASSIFY(IfThisText;MatchesThisText;ThenThisValue)] placeholder will be added to the expression. box.
  19. In the action bar, select the “Add Inspection Field” action and select the Checks Completed field. The [CHECKCOMPLETE] lookup variable will be added to the expression box.
  20. Now, use the added placeholders to create the following statements:

[CLASSIFY([CHECKCOMPLETE];Yes;”|Yes)][CLASSIFY([CHECKCOMPLETE];No;Yes)]

The expression states – if the Checklist Completed field value matches Yes, the pass condition will be ” (blank value) or Yes. If the Checklist Completed field matches No, the pass condition will only be Yes.

  3. Return to the template card page and select the “Create Test” action. Provide the source record for the test. Click “OK” to create the test.
  4. In the created test, notice the checklist fields will be in progress. Notice that changing the “Checklist Completed” field to Yes updates the remaining checklist items to a pass grade.
