Import Export PowerTool: Import Data

Import Export PowerTool: Import Data

You are here:

The Import Export PowerTool extension allows you to import data that has been previously exported. During the import process, new records can be allowed or disallowed depending on the “Allow Record Inserts” configuration option. Record updates can be allowed/disallowed depending on the “Allow Record Updates” configuration option.

Update existing records in Business Central with changes made in a previously-exported file by completing the following:

  1. Navigate to Import Export PowerTool in Business Central.
  2. Select Import operation (“Import Options” grouping is now available).
  3. Set Allow Record Inserts to false.
  4. Set Allow Record Updates to true.
  5. Select Import Data and select the file containing the changes.

Is it possible to us the ImportExport PowerTool with configuration templates that have dimensions as columns? For example allowing the import of General Journal Lines that include Shortcut Dimensions 3, 4, 5 & 6?

You can include any table field in the Import Export Power Tool import. The General Journal Line only has fields for the Global Dimension 1 and Global Dimension 2 fields. To import the other Shortcut Dimensions you would need to first create/identify the Dimension Set ID and include it in the import. Ultimately the answer is no, if the column in the page is not a table field it cannot be included.

I can’t import of Boolean values in Swiss-German version. Values are “Ja” or “Nein”, but the setting will be on False (= “Nein”).
    What’s the problem?
Export the records, change the setting in BC and then reimport the records with the same file doesn’t work! No Boolean value will go to Yes.

I can’t import (insert) in table General Ledger Entry. During import procees, the application asks me for “No write permission on General Ledger Entry. Continue?“. And I click “Yes“. Then, it ends the process by saying that 13 rows have been imported. But in General Ledger Entry no entry is shown. My user has SUPER permission and in “Import Export PowerTool Setup” the field “Update Access” = “Allow” and “Protected Tables” = “Allow Access”. Business Central version is 22.5.59966.60134, and Import Export PowerTool version is 1.0.8650.1. Thank you
