For Warehouse Insight to handle scans properly on Zebra, you must configure the scanner settings. The following steps guide you through the process of setting up and enabling the intent wedge on Zebra scanners.

1. Install Warehouse Insight on the scanner.
   1. Scan the WHI APK barcode from the Installation Report in the browser’s URL (puts the link to download the file in the browser’s URL).
   2. Approve permission requests during the download.
   3. Select Yes to install (WHI appears on your home screen).
2.  Open the DataWedge application on the Zebra scanner.
3. Select the Warehouse Insight profile.
4. Select Associated Apps; recreate this profile if there is no icon next to the “*” entry:
   1. Press and hold the incorrect entry and delete it.
   2. Select the three dots in the top right corner and add a new entry.
   3. Locate and select “**com.insightworks.warehouseinsight**” (the list is alphabetical).
   4. Select the “*” option.
5. Clear the enabled checkbox in the Keystroke Output section.
6. Configure the Intent Output section as follows:
   • Intent Output: Enabled.
   • Intent action: whibarcode
   • Intent category: Ensure this is blank.
   • Intent delivery: Broadcast Intent
7.  Disable basic data formatting and advanced data formatting.
8. Navigate to the Warehouse Insight application and select Menu / Configure (Default password is 1234) / Menu / Barcoding.
9. Configure these settings as follows:
   • Barcode Wedge: Android Intent.
   • Intent Action: whibarcode
   • Intent Category: Make sure this is blank.
   • Intent Barcode String: com.symbol.datawedge.data_string

Zebra tablets with external Zebra scanner

To use Datawedge on the tablet with an external scanner, set the host type on the external scanner to “SSI over USB CDC” using the configuration barcode in the respective scanner’s product reference guide or user manual. Ensure there is no prefix or suffix on the external scanner itself.

You must modify the DataWedge settings on the tablet itself. Refer to the steps above to make the profile and set the Intent Output settings exactly as shown.

You may need to select the external scanner under Scanner Selection in the Warehouse Insight profile of Datawedge; however, Auto detects the connected USB scanner if it is set to SSI mode.
