Management of Quantity to Handle

Dynamic Ship updates the Quantity to Handle field on the document based on what you process in the Package Worksheet.

For example, if a document contains a quantity of two and you handle one, the remaining Quantity to Handle reflects the unprocessed quantity. This allows the document to represent partial handling accurately.

This update enables partial posting and ensures that document quantities match actual packing activity.

Overpacking validation

The Package Worksheet validates quantities during scanning to prevent overpacking.

When you scan an item and enter a quantity, the Package Worksheet compares the entered value with the Quantity to Handle field on the Sales Order or Warehouse Shipment. If the entered quantity exceeds the allowed amount, the Package Worksheet blocks the entry and displays an error.

The error message includes:

• The quantity and unit of measure defined on the source document.
• The quantity and unit of measure you attempted to pack.

Impact on Posting

These changes ensure that packing and posting remain aligned.
You can post partial quantities for serial- and lot-tracked items without errors. At the same time, overpacking validation prevents you from exceeding the defined quantities on the document.
