      Good day,

      Another couple of questions –

On your YouTube channel I looked at a couple of the presentations, the version I’m testing is ‘Standard’. Before a Physical Inventory Journal is created I can start to scan and count?

We don’t use bins, it is one location, can I create one Physical Inventory Journal, locate on the tablet or handheld and begin to scan and enter counted values?

The items may not be in the same physical shelf, if I scan C101 and find 10, I count the same in another shelf and get 5, how will the system respond?

Will it overwrite or indicate it has already been entered?

      Regards

      Rosemary

        Hey Rosemary,

Yes, once you have your Physical Inventory Journal Batch made, you can select it on the scanner and then start scanning items, no bin required. One important thing to note is the Basic Count does not support the use of lot or serial numbers.

As far as scanning an item that may exist on multiple shelves, the software won’t stop you from scanning them. The default behavior if you scan an item is it will open the quantity dialog screen with a populated quantity of 1, that your users can update as they see fit, then add the specified quantity to the previous quantity if it exists. Following your example, scanning C101 and counting 10 units would create the line, then scanning and counting 5 on a different shelf would update the line to have a quantity of 15.
Worth noting is you can also manually select a count line by tapping on it and this will open the quantity dialog with the quantity you currently have counted. This is typically used for corrections; say you accidentally scanned in 25 of C101 but you meant to have 24, you can double tap the line and change the 25 to a 24 and that will correct the quantity.

You can change these behaviors in Business Central by going to the WMS Express Scan Behaviors page if you like.

        Cheers,

        -Geoff
