I am looking into how to use the text expression CfgDesc
I have a customer that uses a sub configuration inside their configurator.
The sub configuration has a description: NSX 1
Inside that subconfiguration a choice can be made, wether or not there is a plugin
When that choice is activated the customer wants the subconfiguration description to chance to NSX + PLUGIN inside the original configuration.
Is that achievable by using CfgDesc, and how do i use it?

To clarify first: CfgDesc is a Property Name and it’s associated Value is the choice configured (or sub-configuration) description. You can see the definitions of all Text Template Variable here – https://kb.dmsiworks.com/knowledge-base/text-template-variables/.To use CfgDesc you must:- From the Configured Item Categories page populate an Item Description Template for the sub-configuration’s Item Category Code (e.g., {Width.Desc}, {Width.Quantity})
- From the Configured Item Categories page populate an Item Description Template for the parent Item Category Code using CfgDesc and the Choice Code name where the Sub-Configuration will be used (e.g., {Test.CfgDesc}
- Go to Test Configuration for the parent Item Category Code, configure an item using the sub-configuration, which will then pull in the sub-configurations description, {Width.Desc}, {Width.Quantity} (retrieved from {Test.CfgDesc}), into the parent Item Category Code’s description as well
- Note, from the Test Configuration page you can select Test Item Description under Actions to see the items final description
To add PLUGIN (assumption: an Option Choice that falls under it’s associated Code), you must add the Choice Code’s name to the sub-configurations Item Description Template so that when it is used, it will be included in the parent Item Category Code’s, {Test.CfgDesc}, final description.Thank you, -
