June 5, 2026 at 9:13 amPost count: 25We have been using OFW for some time now within BC and some confusion has sparked debate amongst our users. I need clarification on how filtering or default view filters affect the availability allocation calculations based on what is seen on the OFW page.
We have instructed our users to ONLY use the Reload button, whether they have filters applied or not, by a default filtered view or manually set filters after opening up the OFW without filters.
Within the user guide on the Introduction page, it states;
Any changes made to the orders (e.g., filtering, changing allocation quantities, sorting, etc.) do not impact or change the Availability status. To recalculate the availability, use the Recalculate or Split Allocation actions.On the Recalculate Availability with OFW page, it states:
Press Recalculate to recalculate the availability and allocation for the displayed orders. You can filter the orders with regular page filters (or by using Advanced Line Filter) or sort them beforehand to influence the calculations and subsequent availability. Orders are calculated top down.as well as:
Press Reload Orders to refresh order information (such as the addition/deletion/update of orders and order lines, shipment and pick counts) and to recalculate the availability and allocations in the process.— This second statement is a little confusing regarding whether it’s updating or reevaluating the availability allocations.
Our questions for clarification are: (note – we never change the sort order of the Earliest Shipment Date column, that remains defaulted to Ascending as standard)
1. If a user uses a default filtered view, are the availability allocations affected when the OFW page first displays results based on the default filters? Is it still taking into account order/item lines prior to any sales lines not included in the visibly filtered lines?2. If we open the OFW without filters, then apply filters to columns, does the OFW recalculate availability when the filters are applied, thus skipping any orders that may need the same items that may have ship dates before, in between, or after the sales order line displayed on the OFW screen.
3. The Recalculate button is the only thing that affects the recalculation of availability allocations for when filters are applied or not applied.

1. The Order Fulfillment Worksheet will allocate items to visible sales orders starting with the top order and then going down the list. If an order is not visible due to a default filtered view, it will not be considered when allocation occurs.
2. The setting of filters in and of itself does not cause a reallocation, you still need to hit the “Recalculate” button once you have finished setting all your filters. This is done for performance reasons, if you had a few thousand orders active recalculating every time a filter got changed, it would result in significant lag each time.
3. The Reload Orders will do a recalculation after it finishes reloading the orders. Reason being the new or changed orders could invalidate the previous item allocations and possibly cause errors.

So by what I read above, our best method to assure allocations occur properly would be direct our staff to first, open the OFW without any filters (which as you stated allocates based on what is visible on screen), then they could apply filters, and work from there. The allocations would still take into account any sales order lines, originally having partial or full allocations, that fall between the now ‘visible’ filtered orders, and, the Reload that occurs by default after a pick/shipment has been created, still will not alter allocations when the filter is applied. Is that a correct statement?
The point here is give our staff focused views to weed through the orders we cannot fill, BUT, still have the OFW respect partial orders that fall prior to an order down the list.
Unfiltered View:
SO 1 – item A has a qty of 10 required — allocation states we have 20 available and shows an allocation of 10
SO 2 – item A has a qty of 20 required — allocation states we have 10 available and shows an allocation of 10
SO 3 – item A has a qty of 15 required — allocation states we have 0 available and shows an allocation of 0If we then filter out SO 2… would SO 3 show an allocatiton and availability of 10? Or would it still be 0 since the non-visible SO 2 should get those?
