Were having hard time training our employees to use shop floor properly and trying to simplify the time card task. We would like to have the employee load a production order on a machine center instead of them working on the production order because in the end they are only supervising, loading an unloading the production lines.
Currently, we have 3 production lines all doing pretty much the same product. Our 3 employees punch on each production orders. Sometime we have a 4th employee supporting the 3 lines and covering for breaktimes, giving this employee hard time to properly spread his time. When we only have 3 employees, they close a line during brake so now 2 employees run 2 machines.
I imagine having the production orders load on a machine instead would make it simpler, only having to stop the production on the specific line during the breaktimes and making only employee punch in at the beginning, out at the end, and having one supervisor loading and unloading the production order at specific time. We also having case where we could load the same job on 2 machines for higher output. At this time the calender is not making sens when we do that.
Do you believe this idea could work? Am I thinking a way Shop Floor is not meant to be? I can supply more information if needed.
Thanks for your help.
