Basically, the customer wants it to be optional. They can scan a few of the items’ serial No., and then able to skip the rest items.
How should we configure or customize it?
Thanks,

The requirements of your Item Tracking code at the Business Central level will take precedent at a process-by-process basis. For example, if you have Warehouse Item Tracking enabled for Serial Numbers, it is not possible to register a Warehouse Pick without applying the Serial Numbers to the document lines. If the Items are not Warehouse Serial Tracked, you can limit Serial Number entry to outbound processes only, but you cannot have it “half-in half-out” for the data entry such as scanning a few items’ serial numbers but not all of them. The system should never assume the Serial Number to handle as that has a major impact on the Business Central inventory data. The user should always enter the serial numbers with some level of data validation. With the aforementioned risk to Inventory Data, we could automate the serial number entry, but I can almost certainly guarantee inventory counts will reveal major inventory discrepancies.

Yes, I agree with you for the risk of the inventory data. But our customer was working as this way for years.
In Nav 2017, the Insight Work’s Nav CSIDE objects has been customized to fit this special requirement. Now we are upgrading there system from Nav 2017 to BusinessCentral V22. It is mandatory to have this function keep as before.
Can you advice, how can I do the similar customization in WHI extensions for BusinessCentral V22.

I am not able to provide modification designs through our knowledge base. All modifications to our software are subject to billable effort, regardless of if we do the modifications or defer that to the Business Central partner.
To continue this discussion, please send email support@dmsiworks.com, including the customer’s name in the email subject. In the body of the email, please reiterate our discussion and request “Attention: Nathan”
Thanks,
