      Hi,

When we are working from a pick on the scanner it always asks to confirm a change of bin even if the correct one is initially scanned, from say A011 to A011, is there a way of altering this so if the bin is scanned it will not give this request, and also if a stated pick location is not scanned it will dispaly a message of the wrong bin scanned ?

        Hi Paul,

This behavior is actually tied to the Device Configuration settings. You can use these settings to change how the device handle the scans if they come up as unknown. You would also want to verify whether the “Force Bin Prefix” option is enabled, and make sure that your barcodes match accordingly.

The other thing to note here is that it shouldn’t prompt you each time if the bin matches, so there may be an issue with the barcode itself. I would recommend checking it against the “Execute Test” section of Warehouse Insight Barcode Rules to verify that the rules do indeed pick up as intended.

If your goal is to change the application or workflow itself to modify the behavior, I would recommend creating a support ticket. This process can be in depth (Depending on complexity of course) and may require some guidance and testing. If you would like to submit a support ticket for this, you can do so by emailing support@dmsiworks.com.

All of that being said, if you can verify that your settings should be taking the barcode as intended, then we can dig further into the issue.

Let me know your thoughts, and I’ll be happy to help.

To Add to Brian’s response- If your Take Bin Handling setting in device configuration is set to find, it will not prompt for the bin change confirmation when the same bin that is on the line is scanned. However, if you scan a different bin it will throw an error no matching line found. At that point, you would use the change bin menu option to change the bin on the line. It sounds like your device configuration might be set to override with prompt, which will ask for confirmation regardless of it matching on the line.

            Bryan and John,

Thankyou for your help I have now sorted the settings and tweaked a few other things to enable the scanners to be more user friendly hopefully this will further minimise our mis picking, thankyou again.

              Hi,

We have set our pick up using the “Do Not Auto Split” within Device configuration, this enables us to just scan a barcode on the pick, and if it is a multiple item pick will just require us to scan a barcode on another box in the same location to update the pick. But the problem occurs with a Put away when the “Do Not Auto Split” selected, as we deal with furniture we can rarely fit into a bay the quantity on the put away and require the put away to “Auto Split User Quantity” to enable us to choose the items going into that bin location and change the bin for the next load going into another bin. is there a way of having these options for the pick and the putaway without having to change between them in Device configurations constantly?
