Hello,
Indeed, there are three ways to have the Work Centers sorted in the Graphical Scheduler: “Work Center Number”, “Work Center Name” and “Sort Order”.
The type of sort order that will be used is defined on the view of the Graphical Scheduler. The field is called “How to sort capacity” found in the “General” section.
When this field is set to “Sort Order”, the sorting of the Work Centers and/or Machine Centers will be accomplished using the number found in the “Sort Order” field on the Business Central Work Center (and/or Machine Center).
- Navigate to “Graphical Scheduler Views”
- Select the view you wish to modify
- Select “Edit” in the ribbon
- Look for the field called “How to sort capacity” in the “General” section.
- Select the “Sort Order” option
- Close the view
- Ensure you have a number specified in the “Sort Order” field of the corresponding Work Center and/or the Machine Center
- Close and re-open the Graphical scheduler
- Select the correct view.
The Work and Machine Centers should now be sorted.
Here are some images demonstrating these two fields:

The Graphical Scheduler will sort the Work Centers and Machine Centers in accordance with the sort order values defined on each Work Center card (and/or Machine Center cards).
Since the Machine Centers are “within” a specific Work Center, these will appear underneath their corresponding Work Center.
Any Work Center that doesn’t have a sort order defined will appear after the other Work Centers that have a sort order defined. The same applies to the Machine Centers although these will all appear “within” their corresponding Work Center.
