When MxAPS generates a schedule, it considers inventory availability alongside machine and routing constraints.

If an operation cannot begin because required material is unavailable, MxAPS delays the operation until sufficient inventory becomes available.

Recognizing shortages

Material shortages typically appear as:

• gaps before an operation begins
• delayed operation start times
• idle periods on resources waiting for material

These gaps indicate that production cannot proceed until inventory is available.

Why gaps occur

Inventory may be waiting on:

• Purchase Orders
• upstream Production Orders
• transfer receipts
• other supply sources considered during scheduling

MxAPS automatically schedules the operation at the earliest feasible time once all required material is available.

How to identify orders ready to release

In the MxAPS Order Schedules anything that is firm planned in the next X working days (per your production planning schedule) could then be released.

You can quickly add a filter where the Prod. Order Status is “Firm Planned”, and then set add a filter to “Production Order Line Starting Date” to the short term upcoming date range to quickly find which orders could be released.
