Android Scanner Install

Android Scanner Install

While the specifics for setting up each device differ based on the make and model, the steps below are applicable to all and required. Each of the steps are outlined in more detail in the following sections.

  1. Configure the WiFi.
  2. Download and install the software.
  3. Configure the barcode/wedge settings.
  4. Configure the software to connect to Business Central.

Configure the WIFI

The specifics for configuring WIFI vary based on the device and network environment. The device must be able to reach the Business Central SOAP web service for the application to be able to communicate with Business Central.

Install Warehouse Insight APK

The Warehouse Insight .apk file is the main application for Warehouse Insight. To install the .apk file, complete the following:

  1. Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome).
  2. Enter the following URL (replace the version number with the first two parts of the version you are installing; e.g., “2.0.7380.0” would just be “2.0”):
  3. Select OK to accept the warning message if needed.
  4. Open the installation .apk.
  5. Install the application.
  6. Press Open to launch.
  7. Select Allow to enable the required permissions.
  8. See the remaining sections for configuring the software to connect to Business Central. Note any special instructions mentioned for when configuring the Data Intents.

Configure the Data Intents

The Warehouse Insight application requires that the barcode scans be sent via Data Intents. If this is not configured, scans are not registered in the application.

Remove wedge scanning codes (e.g., carriage returns or tabs). If you do not remove, unexpected behavior may occur in the application (e.g., messages/errors being automatically hidden or dialogs automatically closing).

The following steps for configuring are based on the Honeywell CK65. Other models need to change the values.

Set up Honeywell scanners for Warehouse Insight

  1. Navigate to Scanner Settings (Settings > Honeywell Settings > Scanning > Internal Scanner > Default Profile).
  2. Select Data Processing Settings and set the following:
    1. Disable Scan to Intent.
    2. Enable Data Intent.
  3. Open Data Intent and set Action to whibarcode.
  4. Open Warehouse Insight and navigate to Barcoding (Menu > Configure > Configuration password (1234) > Menu > Barcoding).
    1. Set Barcode Wedge to Android Intent.
    2. Input “whibarcode” in Intent Action.

      Hello Rawinia,

These are instructions specific to Honeywell’s.

These are the general configuration settings for a Honeywell CK65. All other Honeywell devices should be the same or very similar:
      1. Navigate to Scanner Settings (Settings > Honeywell Settings > Scanning > Internal Scanner > Default Profile).
      2. Select Data Processing Settings and set the following:
      a. Disable Scan to Intent.
      b. Ensure Symbology Prefix is set to None.
      c. Enable Data Intent.
      d. Open Data Intent (by tapping on the setting name not the toggle) and set Action to whibarcode.

In the Warehouse Insight application, for the barcoding settings, the Barcode Wedge should be Android Intent, the Intent Action should be whibarcode and the Intent Barcode String should be data.

Here is a video of configuring the settings: Honeywell Scanner Settings.mp4

      Thank you,
